Dr. Cathleen Carr

Cathleen V. Carr, JD, Msc.D, is the founder and Executive Director of CertifiedCare.  With over 25 years of experience, her extensive background covers many specialties including healthcare, law, education and non-profit social action. Her personal background and professional expertise has shaped a series of caregiver, now called, Personal Care Aide, certification programs with the highest standards in the elder caregiving field.

Dr. Carr founded CertifiedCare in 2008 to offer informal and professional caregivers a way to gain education and credentials for the growing and complex field of caregiving. She developed the first online curriculum and training program for assisted living companions that incorporate law, business, and alternative therapies, which also comply with the American Medical Association (AMA) Guidelines for elder caregiving.  She has written the first comprehensive Senior Care Auditing Certification program which is the foundation of an entirely new career in the field of eldercare.  Since the inception of CertifiedCare, Dr. Carr has worked with over 2,000 caregivers from all over the United States and abroad.

Prior to CertifiedCare, Dr. Carr created PremierPropertyAds and served as Founder of one of the first alternative therapies spas in Ohio. In her capacity as an Attorney, she served as Assistant Law Director/Assistant Prosecutor in the cities of Cleveland, East Cleveland and Brooklyn, Ohio; was appointed Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General, was an Instructor of Law at Chancellor University; served as Attorney and Counselor at Law in private practice; served as an Executive Board Member for the Ohio Historical Society and Cuyahoga County Mental Health Board.  Dr. Carr, an experienced primary caregiver and ordained minister, is a national leader in the fight against elder abuse and neglect, a recognized Geriatric Care Specialist, and a lawyer in the areas of wills, trusts, probate, elder law, and estate planning.

Dr. Carr holds a BA, magna cum laude, from Howard University, a Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University, a Masters Degree and her Ordination degree from the University of Metaphysics, and her Doctorate in Metaphysical Science-Vibrational Medicine from the University of Sedona.
